Transfers for Students Living in Other Districts
*Application opens January 1, 2022
Students who reside outside the Hammon Public Schools attendance area, who would like to attend our school, may apply for an Open Transfer at any time during the current school year. Students will be notified within one week.
Students from outside the district seeking to transfer for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year may apply during our Spring Transfer Window, opening January 1st. Students will be notified after the July 1 capacity determination.
Hammon Public School makes decisions about student transfers in accordance with state law and board policy.
Refer to the chart at this link to see spaces available by grade levels. Capacities are posted on the first day of January, April, July and October. Both enrollments of new students who move into the district and approval of transfers in the order they are received will cause capacities to change throughout the quarter and sometimes on a daily basis. Capacities will be updated regularly but not on a daily basis.
Hammon Public Schools accepts transfer requests in the Spring to help families and the district to plan for the coming year. All transfer requests received during the transfer window will be considered in accordance with Hammon Public Schools Board Policy.
The Spring Transfer Window is open from February 15 - April 15.
Submit one application per student.
Families will be notified of transfer decisions by May 15.
Transfers for Children of Certified Employees
State law and board policy allow a child of a parent/legal guardian employed as a certified teacher in a district to transfer into that district.
*“Teacher” means any person who is employed to serve as district superintendent, principal, supervisor, a counselor, librarian, school nurse or classroom teacher or in any other instructional, supervisory or administrative capacity. The person shall not be deemed qualified unless the person holds a valid certificate issued by and in accordance with the rules of the State Board of Education or the rules of the State Board of Career and Technology Education, to perform the particular services for which the person is employed.
New transfers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each application is date and time stamped upon submission and will be processed in the order they are received.
Transfers may be denied based on capacity, attendance and discipline issues.
Transfers for siblings must be considered separately.
If the grade a student requests is over capacity, the student will be placed on a waiting list for the grade they requested.
Denied or Revoked Transfers
If the transfer request is denied or revoked, you have a right to appeal the decision by completing the Arapaho-Butler Public Schools Transfer Appeal Form.
