I was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. I attended school there until I graduated high school. I was blessed to be raised in a small town atmosphere and knew that I wanted to raise my family in that same type of community. I obtained my B.A. in English Education from SWOSU in the fall of 1997. In 2001 I added the areas of Early Childhood and Elementary Education to my certificate. I taught one year of High School English in Taloga, Oklahoma and returned "home" to teach one year of Pre-K for the 2003-2004 school year followed by 9 years of first grade, all at Hammon. In the spring of 2013 I returned to the high school level. I taught High School English during the 2013-2014 school year. I believe I learned even more than the students! In August of 2014 I returned back to elementary to teach first grade again. After two years back in the first grade classroom I moved to second grade, and after following that class through fourth grade, I’m back to teaching first grade! I am married to Kyle Ivey. We have two children, Katelyn who graduated from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at the Kiowa-Caddo Tech Center/SWOSU in May 2016 and is now employed by Great Plains Regional Medical Center as a COTA and Korbin who is employed by Fairway Resources. Our daughter Katelyn is married to Riley Shepherd, who is also a Hammon graduate. Our son Korbin is married to Jenna (Feltman) who is originally from Cordell. I love being Gigi to our grandkids Kenner, Oaklyn, and Kutler. My husband and kids are all proud graduates of Hammon High School.
